At Home Cards have been a significant part of aristocratic social etiquette since the 19th century. Traditionally, the mistress of the house would be the one sending them out to apprise acquaintances of the appropriate day to call on.
Over the years, the use of at home cards evolved into an announcement of a change of address or a new abode for newlyweds. It is also sent out with formal wedding announcements or wedding invites to officially inform friends and relatives that you’re at home. More recently, at Home cards are used as a function invitation which is to be held at the home of the sender.
Our speciality printing process is raised thermographic printing, and this is a great addition to At Home Cards, as the look and feel of thermography is very similar to die-stamping, which was traditionally used on At Home Cards, but thermographic printing is a quicker & more cost effective route to take, but still giving that professional finish.
Our standard boards are high quality white, ivory and cream 400gsm boards. We have lots of other stock that we hold in-house, like the conqueror range for example. If you require a particular board and colour, we can always source this for you.
For customary reasons, the beauty of At Home Cards lies in its thickness. So much so, customers sometimes assess the thickness and weight of at-home cards by balancing a champagne glass on them.
To achieve the sturdier desired heaviness, Thermofast offers a duplexing service for At Home Cards and corporate invitations, business cards, or any correspondence cards. Duplexing means that the cards are printed on a 400 gsm board and then duplex it to achieve a really thick finished product of an 800gsm board.
