Embossed Printed Business Cards

Embossed printed business cards are extremely popular in the corporate world, the thermographic embossing adds that professional look which every businessman or woman is looking for.

Your embossed business cards can be printed in up to 4 spot colours, so plenty of scope to fulfil your corporate image, or they can be printed double sided having 2 spot colours on both sides.

Our standard material for the embossed business cards is a high quality 350-400gsm board, you don’t really want to print professional business cards on a lighter weight than that otherwise they feel flimsy. We have a choice of white, off white and cream boards, but if you were after an alternative, this is always do-able.

We can also create extra thick business cards, this means after the thermo embossing has been printed, two or three boards are mounted together making the business cards a heavy weight which can be up to 1200gsm.

Also another extra which shows off an embossed printed business card is to have it gilt edged, this can be in gold or silver, and having that foil edging is something a bit special that no-one is going to chuck in the bin without looking twice at.

Trade Thermographic Printing

We are Trade Thermographic printers, that means we do all our thermo printing in-house, and have been doing so for the past (cough-cough) 30+ years!

We deal with some very large printing companies and designers and then also with the smaller high street chains and store fronts that love to offer Thermography, but are just not set up for it. We can supply right across the UK as we use a very reputable courier firm.

We are happy to supply samples of our thermographic work, and we find this helps to sell it to customers, as once they see and feel the quality of the print, they are sold!

We can produce such an array of products using thermo print, from business cards, and all business stationery, to personal stationery like note paper and correspondence cards, and then the ever popular wedding stationery.

On our thick 350-400gsm weight boards that we use for business cards, wedding invitations etc we can print in up to 4 spot colours in thermography.

We also produce laser guaranteed thermo printing for letterheads and anything that is likely to go through a laser printer, which means the raised thermo print will cause no harm to the laser printer.

We tend to stick with using the Conqueror range of papers and boards, as these are universally known quality products, with lots of choice in colours, textures and weights and also matching envelopes.

Make it thick, & shiny…!Foil Block lettering in Suffolk

We’ve been listening to you, all the good stuff anyway. Thermofast have been doing some research into making our thickest card, err thicker. Our best selling 400gsm weight cardboard invitations that we use for At Home Cards, Event Invitations and Wedding Stationery, is normally weighty enough. But our R&D people, well person, has developed a whopping 800gsm card, finished in matt or smooth ivory board that we can print onto, making it a lethal weapon in the right hands. We can round-corner, hand paint the edges, scent it, gift wrap, send as a gift to a loved one and print double sided using multiple Pantone colours.

If you’d like to see samples of the card, please fill in our sample request form and we’ll stick some free examples in the post today. But our new products don’t stop there… we are now, after many requests from those lovely Bridal Blogs out there offering a new Foil Blocking service to complement the thermographic printing. Thermofast have foils in Gold, Silver, Red, Green but if you need another specific block foiling request, we can pretty much match, or contrast to your palette.

Obviously it’s not just the blushing brides who want embossing, many of clients are Architects, Solicitors, and professional services (and artisans) who care about and appreciate quality stationery, if you’ve not seen blind-embossing, that is raised printing, but no ink, it really is quite tactile, call us on Tel: 01787 880 268 to discuss. At Thermofast, you talk, we listen. Obviously at home though we still have selective hearing 😉

Thermography explained…

Our production process can sometimes be a little baffling to people trying to understand the various print techniques, so we created a home movie of some business cards being printed at our factory – see here (link may take a few seconds to load on YouTube). Whilst it’s not possibly going to be shortlisted for the Golden Globe this year, it might show you how our presses ‘roll’ here in Sudbury, Suffolk.

Thermographic Printing Explained

We can thermographically print on any card or paper stock, up to 400gsm standard or even using uber thick 700gsm by applying double weight card, this can also be used as a blunt instrument! We can use laser-printer proof inks also to guarantee no ‘peel off’ when using with desktop or digital printers.

Thermographic printing is a multi-stage process. First, a printed paper drops off the printing press onto a conveyor. The conveyor moves the sticky ink underneath the thermography powder which is shaken on top of the entire sheet. The powder attaches to the wet ink. The extra powder is then vacuumed up and stored for re-use. Next, the coated sheet passes through an oven with temperatures ranging from 900 to 1300 degrees Fahrenheit.

Laser-safe results in thermography combines a specially formulated powder with an ultraviolet light used to harden or cure the raised stationery so it won’t re-melt.This can take place on an in-line machine or the conveyor of the thermography machine combined with a retrofit unit. This is the most productive and cost effective procedure and produces a smoother finish on fine lines of type, almost resembling genuine copper plate engraving.

Our process allows up to four pantone colours to be applied in thermography, and gives your invitations a touch of class with the round corner gilt edged cards and the thermography together – you can be sure to create the right impression for your event with thermo-printed, hand finished gilt edged cards. We pride ourself on the quality of our work and your event deserves the best.
