Hot Foiling
Enhance Your Stationery with a Touch of Luxury
Some printing techniques are simply to die for. Who does not love the gold or silver, metallic printed logos, names, initials, or designs on a business or personal, wedding or Christmas stationery?
This metallic letter or logo printing is furnished through a traditional printing technique called ‘hot foiling.’ Hot foiling is used to make designs instantly noticeable, strike the eye, and catch the reader’s attention.
Foil block printing is a traditional way of printing that we love to embrace.
The technique of hot foiling works by pressing the foil through high temperatures onto the paper. Since gold or silver inks do not relay a metallic shine or finish to the print, using foil to create that shiny look is the perfect printing technique.
How it Works: A magnesium die is prepared and mounted on the printing press with a heated bed. A fine layer of foil is placed over the card, and the press stamps the design on to the card.
Results: This results in a highly metallic looking, slightly indented but aesthetically pleasing print. The printing finish is not necessarily glossy but the metallic look is fantastic.
We can foil print on paper for personal note paper & letterheads, or on thicker board for business cards and invitations. Our stock papers and boards are high quality stock ranging in weights from 100gsm, right up to 400gsm. But if you require even thicker than this we can duplex boards up to 600, 700, 800 & even 1200gsm.
We hold foils in the most common of colours – Gold, silver and bronze, but we also have stocks of red, blue, green and purple. But if you require a different colour, we can also source this for your product.
We also offer a gilt edging service, so adding a matching gilt edge to your foil printed product, really does show off the metallic look.
